Post stress test update
This is first project devlog written for Wild Wild Space on itch.io.
Itch.io's text editor is a bit wonky, and I have some trouble aligning some lines, for instance some sentences may be cut-off depending on your screen. I apologize for the inconvenience and will try to find a solution quickly.
Up until now I was emailing updates for few friends and interested people. Then I planned stress test for which I needed more people so I made game profile restricted and distributed link to itch on various places. After that it seems only natural to start writing devlogs on game profile. Because of that this devlog may look out of place. My update cycles are usualy 28 days long. Within those 28 days I work 14 days on Wild Wild Space as my primary project and then 14 days on different mostly unrelated projects to prevent burn out.
Stress test planned on 26th April was almost total disaster, but it still yielded some values. No one connected but I was prepared for that. During test I discovered some bugs, fortunately mostly visuals, but one gameplay related - asteroids were not spawning in asteroid fields. But all those were hotfixed during next day. Then I moved my focus on different project for some time to mentaly refresh. I returned after ten day refreshment to make some small updates to game.
This new build contains these updates
- Pirates contract line is finished
- Updated player movement when jumping through gates so that the player no longer flies to the last point of movement after jump
- Updated player death handling, player is now placed without any movement in respawn location and HUD data for structure is refreshed
- Shields now aren't replenished after death
- Fixed quest tasks tracking in HUD not working on singleplayer
- Refinery screen now shows only items that could actualy be refined
- Changed characters mesh scaling so ships and mobs doesn't always have same size
Now there is much needed content update in front of me, sound effects needs some love and some minor visual updates to UI. And fo course having Esc key to be usable in menus navigation.
